Transportation & Getting Around

The Council on Aging helps connect Monterey residents with reliable transportation for medical appointments, errands, and daily needs.

South County Connector (On-Demand & FLEX Service)

Flexible, on-demand rides for residents of Monterey and neighboring towns.
Service area: Egremont, Great Barrington, Monterey, Stockbridge, West Stockbridge, Sheffield, limited service to Canaan, CT.
Hours: Daily, 6:00 AM–9:00 PM.
Schedule: Call 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, 7 days a week, or use the TripShot app.
ADA accommodations available. Email amervis@townofgbma.gov for assistance.

BRTA Medical Transportation for Seniors (Pilot Program)

Rides to medical appointments for seniors 60+ in Monterey and nearby rural towns.
Hours: Monday–Saturday, 7:00 AM–6:00 PM.
Cost: $7.50 base fare + $2.50 per additional town.

Mahjong

Join us for American Mahjong, a game of strategy and skill that has brought players together for generations! Whether you're a seasoned player or new to the game, all are welcome. This COA-sponsored group meets at the Monterey Community Center Tuesdays, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM and Thursdays, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Bridge

Enjoy an afternoon of bridge at the Monterey Community Center! Whether you're a seasoned player or just learning the game, this friendly group welcomes all skill levels. Come for strategic play, social connection, and a relaxed atmosphere. This COA sponsored group meets at the Monterey Community Center Tuesdays and Fridays, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Yantra Yoga with Ben Corbett

This class blends gentle yoga, breathwork, and mindful meditation, drawing from Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism and traditional Hatha yoga. Comfortable clothing recommended. Sponsored by the COA. A $10 donation is appreciated. Every Thursday, 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at the Monterey Community Center

Open Art Studio with Beth Hoffman

Last 2 Thursdays each month 11:00 AM - 1:00 pm Come and paint or draw in the company of other artists. A still life provides inspiration or draw from your own imagination. Anything goes! Tai Chi with David Crowe

Wednesdays, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the Monterey Community Center.
Accepting new attendees with prior Tai Chi experience. Join David Crowe for a gentle, flowing practice that improves balance, flexibility, and relaxation. Classes are $8 per session or $30 per month. Come move, breathe, and unwind in a welcoming environment.
